TIDES was a prototype Navy SEALs diving simulator built by IPKeys, using Unreal 4.
It was developed as a showcase for training diving missions using realistic diving tools in mission specific scenarios. Development was approximately 3 months using Unreal 4. I lead a small team of artists while building the blueprints for the interactive demo.
My role for TIDES was Lead Designer, and Technical Artist. I was primarily responsible for:
- Leading 3-4 artists in the construction of assets, and asset integration.
- Environment and Scenario Design, Construction.
- Implemented blueprint systems for interactive diver board, water current system.
- Behavior Tree AI for following divers.
- UI/UX
I built a physics based current system using physics volumes in Unreal 4 to simulate environmental currents. I also rigged and built blueprint for the interactive diving board instruments. Lastly, I developed an environmental water haze system that could be altered by the trainer.
